Converse Presents: Open Studio Hong Kong
From May 16th – 18th during Art Basel Hong Kong 2014 at The Space in Sheung Wan, Converse presented a rare opportunity to witness creativity being unleashed with 'Open Studio,' an exciting new platform for next generation talent with pop-up studios showcasing the creative process in-motion. The project lent an environment where guests can observe the artists at work or interact with the artists for a more intimate experience.
For ‘Open Studio’, Converse included a diverse range of inspiring artists from around the world - Mark Gross, Above, Caratoes, Cody Hudson, Peter Yuill, and Richard Colman – who are all creating art pieces from scratch throughout the week, demonstrating their individual methods of creativity. The artists also put their personal mark on the iconic Chuck Taylor sneakers and other objects to be displayed in a dedicated exhibition space with their completed pieces. In addition, interactive workshops invited the public to explore their own creativity by working with artists one-on-one and experiencing art firsthand. Designed to create a unique inside-look of an artist’s workspace and creative process, Converse ‘Open Studio’ aims to inspire and curate an exhibit that is synonymous with true artistic creativity and merit.
