MTA Graphics Standards Manual

The story goes that this New York City Transit Authority Graphics Standards Manual was found in a locker under a pile of old gym clothes. In the design world this is comparable to Indiana Jones finding the Ark. Originally designed by Massimo Vignelli of Unimark International in 1970, the this has become one of the most recognizable identities of any major city. Here are a few our favorite pages of the 182 page book.
